Purpose and scope
FreelancerTools publishes browser-based utilities and educational guides for independent professionals. Our goal is to help readers understand a workflow and make a better next decision. The site does not provide individualized tax, legal, accounting, or investment advice.
A calculator is an estimate, not a filing tool. A result can be incomplete if a visitor's circumstances, jurisdiction, deductions, filing status, or current rules differ from the assumptions used by the tool.
How guides and tools are reviewed
- We define the question a tool or guide is meant to answer and state important assumptions in plain language.
- For material tax figures, deadlines, and rules, we check a primary government source where one is available.
- We test calculator logic with representative examples and review labels, outputs, and limitations for clarity.
- We review tax-year-sensitive pages when a new tax year begins or when the underlying source changes.
- We revise, redirect, or remove pages that are inaccurate, outdated, or too thin to be useful.
Source standards
We prefer primary sources for factual claims. When a guide refers to a rate, tax rule, program requirement, or deadline, it should identify the relevant year and link to the underlying source.
- Internal Revenue Service — Federal tax rules, forms, instructions, and published rates.
- U.S. Small Business Administration — General small-business guidance and recordkeeping resources.
- State revenue departments — State-specific tax rules and deadlines when a guide discusses them.
Corrections and feedback
If you find an error, missing context, or a broken tool, email freelancertoolsorg@gmail.com with the page URL and a short description. We review correction requests and update a page when the evidence supports a change.
Independence and advertising
Advertising, if enabled, does not determine a guide's conclusions or tool results. Ads are never presented as navigation, download controls, calculator inputs, or results. We do not accept payment for editorial placement.
