The result is a market where the people who need the simplest, most reliable tools are forced to pay the most for complexity they do not need, and then surrender sensitive financial data to services that monetize it through advertising, data resale, or opaque retention policies.

We believe the best software respects your time, your privacy, and your autonomy. That means no forced upgrades, no feature gating behind premium tiers, and no dark patterns designed to keep you logged in or enrolled in recurring billing. Our mission is to build a sustainable, community-supported alternative that proves quality and generosity can coexist.

Who Is Responsible for the Site

FreelancerTools is maintained by Ryan F., an independent driver since 2019 and a former DJ-business owner for five years in the 2010s. The site focuses on the practical money and recordkeeping tasks that recur in self-employed work: getting paid, tracking costs, planning taxes, and setting sustainable rates.

Privacy Stance

Privacy is not a feature. It is a design constraint. From the very first line of code, I structured these tools so that invoices, estimates, budgets, and any other financial documents you create are processed inside your browser, on your machine, and never transmitted to a server. There are no hidden analytics pixels, no third-party cookies, no session replay scripts, and no data brokers sitting downstream of your activity.

That stance means I cannot fix a bug by looking at server logs, because there are no server logs to look at. It also means I cannot accidentally leak your data, because I never receive it. If a future version ever introduces optional cloud sync, it will be opt-in, end-to-end encrypted, and clearly labeled — not buried in terms of service. Until then, the only privacy risk you face is the same one you face with any local spreadsheet: keeping your own device secure.

Editorial Policy

FreelancerTools may show Google display ads to help keep the tools free. Advertising is kept separate from calculator inputs, results, navigation, and editorial guidance. We do not accept payment for favorable editorial coverage, and an advertiser does not determine a tool's calculation or a guide's conclusion.
